Born Todd Michael Pregler in a small town in southern Minnesota in January of 1964, called Wells. Todd was the town's secret love child from his paternal father, who was 22, and the son of his then 17 year old mother, who was ridiculed and scorned from the get go. Todd was bounced around like a rubber ball between his aunts and uncles and mom's friends for the first 7 years of his life, not knowing anything about his father. Todd's favorite and most often place to call home was with Melvin and Maxine Pregler, his grandparents, whom he adored. Todd's mom married for the first time in 1967 and along came his brother Mike. The marriage didn't last long and was abusive in many ways. She became pregnant with her third son, Jamie, and fled to Duluth MN with her soon to be 2nd husband. This is where Todd became an Eckart. They married in 1971. Todd welcomed his final sibling, his baby sister Jennifer in March of 1972. Todd took an inkling to music and broadcasting right away as a child. He graduted in 1982, moved to Minneapolis in 1984 jumping from job to job. In 1995, he took a solo adventure to Jackson Hole WY where he landed a job on a radio station.
